Spring has sprung in our neck of the woods. Husband and I went for a drive this evening. I had a feeling that the ice was going to run tonight. On our journey we found that water was high which is not out of the ordinary…. 2o minutes after we were in this very spot the ice let go……….In under 5 minutes the water rose at least 15 feet. A friend of ours raises beef. The neighbours had to take a boat into the barn to rescue a couple of new calves and get the cattle to follow to get them out. We are expecting rain over the next couple of days which means much more flooding. (Photos by Tammey McLean)
A little something to brighten your day. A picture from my flower garden. Cannot wait to see and smell them this year!
Welcome spring! Oh what a wonderous thing. I really cannot complain I do not mind any of the seasons. I love spring when the tulips are blooming and summer days at the lake, drives to see the fall leaves and snow days in the winter.
TODAY IS THE LATTER. Hahahaha I woke up this am to 6+ inches of snow and it has continued most of the day. Now we are getting freezing rain. Should make for a good drive home. Ah well such is life being a Canadian. One is prepared for all weather! Hahaha. Always carry wool socks, blanket, and flashlight in the car.
We had a chilli and chowder lunch today at work. That ended up being good with this type of weather. It was yummy and thank goodness there as enough left from mine I do not have to cook supper! Bonus.
I might add Husband is having a bad day. I left for work at 7:50. He left to take care of his Grandmother’s yard at 9. He got home to our place at 1 pm and the plow truck was just going through. (I might add the street was over my knee this morning when I left)
I am thinking it may be awhile before I see my tulips.
Happy Spring to you all!
These are a couple of views from Cadillac Mountain on Mount Desert Island. In the second picture you can see Bar Harbor. If ever you have a chance you will never regret visiting Eastern Maine and Mount Desert Island. You can whale watch, cycle, swim, hike, camp, shop, eat, see lighthouses. These are just a few of the many things. My absolute favorite store in Bar Harbor is Island Artisans. They feature local artists. Glass blowers, pottery, jewellery to name a few. They also have THE BEST chocolate and ice cream located at Ben & Bills Chocolate Emporium. I cannot wait until the flowers are blooming and I eat an ice cream while walking on the Bar Harbor Shore Path.
